How to Hack Your Wii

You can make copies of all of your Wii games and store them on a USB external drive. When you hook that external drive up to your Wii, you can load all of your games directly from the USB drive and never have to use the original discs again. Click here for a video to see what I'm talking about.

Of course Nintendo doesn't let you do this using their default Wii configuration, you have to "softmod" your Wii. Here is Mauifrog's Softmod Any Wii Guide. It's really not that difficult, just follow the instructions carefully. It takes about 30 minutes or less if you're fast.

When you're ready to start backing up your games, you'll need a program to help you configure and manage your external hard drive. Here is the program that I use. After I was done setting up the hard drive, it automatically downloaded all of the game covers and generated the html code for this article. Pretty cool huh?

Here is a list of all of my Wii game backups:

Game count:86 Total size:205.46 GB
